What can career coaching do for me?

Career coaching will help you achieve your career goals with impartial advice, guidance and support from a qualified coach. The coach will help you to assess your current situation, explore your options, recognise and develop your skills and find the best career pathway for you.

If you are looking to improve your work satisfaction, understand what you want from your career and why your current role might not be fulfilling then a coach can help you find your way.

As well as supporting you to make informed career decisions that are the best for you, they can also offer other career tools, such as a CV review, interview training and networking advice.

    Who it will benefit

Anyone who wants to find a new job, change their career, advance and get promoted or develop within their current organisation.

    How coaching works

Career coaching will help you to clarify your career direction whilst promoting confidence in your skills and supporting you on your journey to your dream role.

Essentially a combination of coaching and counselling, it will provide you with advice, guidance and support for your career journey. This will be over a number of one-to-one sessions where your coach will work with you to find the answers and the best outcomes for you.

    What it won’t do

Unfortunately, career coaching is not a miracle pill that will find you a dream job! Nor, can it provide you with answers in just one session. It is more a journey where you take the steps needed to succeed in your goal.

The best time to use a coach

A career coach can be used at any time in your professional life but will be particularly effective in the early stages of your career, helping you to choose the right pathway, and in mid-career when you may have lost your way and need support to change.

Typical reasons given for using a Career Coach

    These can include:

    • I don’t like my job
    • I don't know what else I can do
    • I don’t know what I can do with my skills
    • I am not sure that I have any skills
    • I am looking for a promotion
    • I want to change direction
    • I want to find my dream job
    • I need more job satisfaction

    How long does it take?

Usually, at least 2, 3 or more sessions
