Your CV

Ask one hundred people what the ideal CV looks like and you will get one hundred different answers. Writing your CV is not easy!

You can find plenty of advice about CV's: you can buy whole books (150 pages plus) about writing a CV or a covering letter, or employ one of the many CV writing companies out there.

Even though everything is on-line nowadays and we have the force and reach of social and professional networks, you still need a CV!

The only purpose of a CV is to get you an interview.

Warning: Identikit CVs on the loose! Hands up all those who have asked AI (chat GTP) to write their CV, or introduction paragraph or summary for a job application?

Well, it seems that employers are now wise to this (I guess they use AI to check that AI hasn’t been used!) and the widespread use of generative AI to write your CV is causing problems as ‘Identikit’ CV’s mean they can’t identify genuine talent from the hundreds of CVs they get.

It is so easy, and quick, to get AI to generate a tailored CV and covering letter for a job application that they all end up looking the same. Add in that they get many more applications now due to the job market and the ease of which we can use technology to apply, and you can see their problem. Many employers will bin these if their system detects AI has been used. So, beware!
